Performance hit during gaming due to high CPU demand.
Hello, I've been using my PC for some time now and have noticed an unusual situation. When playing games, especially the new COD, my CPU reaches its maximum according to Windows, while my GPU stays at only about 3% usage. Reducing the settings a bit helps me maintain around 120 frames, but I'm puzzled as to why my GPU isn't performing better. The attached photo shows the game in action. Could it be that using Task Manager is not the best way to keep track of these things? To give you some context, I have a 1070 processor, an i5-7500 CPU, and 16 GB of RAM. I know my CPU often becomes the limiting factor for my GPU, but is this typical? Is it normal? And if not, are there ways to improve this situation? I intend to upgrade my CPU soon, but for now, is this just what I can expect? Thank you very much for your assistance—it means a lot.
100% utilization on the CPU is typical for new releases, even with my i7 8700k running at 5 GHz. BF V never stays at 100% for me... With an i5 I’m not surprised. Regarding the GPU, direct X12 behavior is often confusing. The Windows Task Manager doesn’t accurately reflect usage in DX12 applications. You might want to try a tool like EVGA Precision to observe the GPU’s activity.
