I recently upgraded my CPU and motherboard, but my PC still felt sluggish even after reinstalling Windows and updating drivers. I checked the benchmarks online, and the GPU is performing well at full power, though the CPU showed inconsistent results as shown in the attached image. Could this be related to a BIOS issue since I haven’t updated it? This problem didn’t occur with the previous CPU, and everything else was functioning properly. The PSU is in good condition.
PC specs: CPU i5-8600K, GPU GTX 1070 Ti, 16GB RAM (2400MHz), ROG STRIX Z370-H, motherboard MSI PRO B760M-P. I’ll also include the CSV file with the results.
These results could come from a stress test or heavy gaming load.
Review the BIOS settings to understand the turbo power restrictions. Share a screenshot of the ThrottleStop TPL interface. It appears you’re applying the standard power caps, currently at 65W. A substantial boost is required for optimal performance from a 12400F. The dynamic limit could frequently drop to 35W. Remove any MSI control utilities during testing and enable the ThrottleStop Log File option on the main display to capture CPU performance data. Close ThrottleStop once testing is complete so it can finalize the log. The CSV file you provided indicates frequent VR thermal throttling. The voltage regulators lack adequate cooling and are overheating. What cooling solution are you employing? Occasionally, directing a small fan toward the regulators helps prevent overheating. Some B760 models are more affordable for a reason; they might offer less VR cooling compared to Z-series options. ThrottleStop Limit Indicators should clearly highlight this throttling issue.

You enjoy solid CPU cooling, but if your motherboard relies on an air cooler, the voltage regulators won’t get enough heat. Water cooling eliminates any air movement near these components. Use Open Limit Reasons during testing. If your CPU begins throttling, look for the VR TEMP indicator turning red. Enable Log File mode in ThrottleStop while testing—it records throttling causes in the log file.
Good new I did another fresh install for Windows and it got much better still there is a little shutter but nothing compared to how it was + I'm planning on taking the PC to the shop so they can give it a look I didn't pay that warranty money for nothing
