I own a 3D mark setup. Would you recommend simulating gaming conditions by running the physics in Firestrike? How intense should it be? I've noticed der8auer achieving stable performance at 5.5ghz based on gaming demands, not just benchmarks. "It crashes Cinbench23, but I can still play since my game mainly uses a single core." You're probably asking about reliability under lighter loads. The single-core claim isn't as relevant now. A boost of around 2 fps is typical for most titles, but I'm playing Escape from Tarkov to maximize CPU usage. Upgrading isn't likely soon—my goal is to extract the best performance from what I have. I just need a stress test that pushes the CPU enough for smooth gameplay without generating excessive heat during testing.

The OC guarantees a clear performance boost, but focusing solely on squeezing extra frames means only a modest gain—like a few fps. That’s inefficient, adds unnecessary strain, heat, and power usage from forced cooling. If it really improves speed, you should also check if boosting fans during stress tests makes a difference. Just as your body gets hotter when you start running or sprinting, components naturally overheat under load; monitoring that helps avoid damage. Cinebench offers a balanced test, similar to gaming, but still more demanding than real-world scenarios.

I've consistently kept my fans at full speed in the cooler, used case fans at 80% (they're 180mm and tend to be very loud at that setting).

I understand. My experience is that you will "sometimes" see a performance boost in a game...but then you see hesitations and crashes. OC up to the Max for sure....but pushing past complete stability will "seem" like a win when it really isn't . Just my opinion. I have experience with manually OC since the 386.
