Hello, my Acer Predator PH315-54 has been struggling lately. Over the past two months I've noticed low frame rates and high temperatures—around 95°C on the GPU and 70°C on the CPU after about 30 minutes of playing Raft. I've tried cleaning everything internally, resetting the games, checking Steam activity, and even praying to Zeus. I haven't tried factory resetting yet because I want to explore other solutions first. I'm considering a full reset now. My diagnostics show the laptop specs below, with more details here: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/67947896. CPU stats: Intel Core i7-11800H; GPU: Intel UHD Graphics; GPU usage: 58.5%; RAM: Hynix 2x8GB; Storage: Seagate 1TB; SSD: NVMe Micron; HDD: Seagate ST1000LM049. I've also checked Intel's benchmarks for reference. Let me know if you think another approach would help. Thanks!

You can use hwinfo32 to check if your system is slowing down due to heat, which might be the main reason

If it's experiencing thermal throttling, adjusting the thermal paste is the best option. You might also consider switching to liquid metal, though I don't think it's worth the risk for minor improvements.

Have you replaced the thermal paste? It’s time for this again.

I didn't replace the thermal paste. My laptop was about two years old when I did it.

I’m unsure about using thermal paste on my own. Local shops in Montreal charge between $90 and $150 for it. If anything goes wrong, I might need to replace my laptop.

The thermal paste is safe for your laptop because it doesn’t conduct electricity, unlike liquid metal.
