Hi, I was curious about my maximum boost clock speeds today. The results were interesting—I reached around 4 to 4.1 GHz, while AMD claims a max of 4.8 GHz. My CPU isn’t overheating. The benchmark hit a peak temperature of about 80°C. It’s cooled with the 360mm Kraken Z73 setup, using three fans for both pull and push.

4.8 will be the main performance boost. All-core speed will start lower by default. You can adjust it manually for better results, though consistency isn't assured.

Check their specifications (https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-9-5900x). Hover over the tiny icon next to the maximum boost clock. This means it can hit that speed temporarily on one core, but won’t keep it long-term. If you choose to overclock, make sure to run tests before and after. I’ve heard about manual overclocks that increased frequency, yet caused slower performance because of heat limits.

The chart from Anandtech shows the chip's capabilities with core count on the top and frequency on the bottom. At 12 cores, it achieved only 4150 MHz.

It's actually 4950, not 4850. Someone made a mistake somewhere.

The specification is 4800; anything above that is extra and not assured. (Assuming speed, it's unclear if 4950 or 4850 was mentioned in the discussion.)

4.8GHz operates on a single core, but availability of the 5900X is limited to around 4.3GHz with all cores active in CBR23 due to EDC/TDC/PPT constraints. Adjusting CO, adding +200MHz OC and increasing PL can push performance to roughly 4.9 to 5GHz on one core and 4.5 to 4.6 across all cores.

The specification is 4950 with no PBO. Adding PBO +200 raises it to 5150MHz. That was the reason I spoke up.

Demonstrating the point: No PBO without a heavy load—observed it operating at 3700MHz. Very weak performance, huh? Adding a heavy load restores strength.
