Performance declines with 4090
Hello everyone, I'm experiencing some problems while playing Cyberpunk at 1440p. My FPS drops noticeably every five seconds. I've verified everything on my system—new motherboard, RAM, power supply—and none of those changes helped. I've attached a benchmark screenshot for your reference. I've tried driver updates, Windows updates, part swaps, reinstalling the game, checking integrity, and even fresh OS installs. All have failed to resolve the issue. Ray Tracing: Ultra Ray Tracing: Medium. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
I tried CP2077 a couple of months back to check if it improved since release, but unfortunately not much changed. I noticed occasional frame drops here and there, which weren't as severe as in your situation. When playing at 4K with DLSS enabled (maximum settings), my game runs around 50-60 FPS. However, there were some unusual drops down to about 30 FPS, though very infrequently. After looking into it, I found Nvidia Reflex was the culprit. Turning it off reduced those drops and brought the performance back to a more stable 40-45 FPS range.
I've been checking benchmarks and noticed a drop in performance. Anyone have an idea? It seems the power supply might be acting up. I swapped in another PSU and the same problems appeared. It could also be that the board isn't getting power correctly. I ran Elden Ring, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Cyberpunk, all showing FPS drops around every five seconds. My system details: Hyte Y40, MSI Gaming RTX 4090, Ryzen 9 7900x, G.Skill DDR5-6000 32GB, Fractal Design Celsius 240mm, Thermaltake Tough-power GF3 1000W, Rog Strix B650E-F Gaming WIFI.
How many cables link the GPU to the PSU and what connections they have? Are your memory settings OC/XMP/EXPO reliable? Does the RAM fit properly considering the number of dimmed lights? Have you run any tests such as 3DMark to check for performance issues?
The rate changes depend on your setup—like 20 fps then ramping back, or jumping from 50 fps to 150 again.
I have a Thermaltake Tough-power GF3 1000W with one cable connector. My RAM is DDR5-6000 but runs at 4800, they’re EXPO compatible, yet my PC crashes within about 1:30 minutes when I power it on. The units are set correctly. Are there any free benchmark tools you can recommend?
It runs smoothly at 144hz and 1440p, but every five seconds it slows down to just a few frames.
