I have been experiencing hickups with my computer that I can not for the life of me figure out. This happens in games that I play both online and offline. I thought originally that my stuttering issues were caused by my internet but I don't believe that to be true. I usually play games in 1080p on a 240Hz monitor since I mostly play FPS games. It doesn't appear that I have any thermal throttling. My CPU tempos do reach almost 90c while running prime 95 and I get a low of 11 FPS while running heaven benchmark as seen below. Sorry for the massive amounts of screen shots, I wanted to make sure I included everything incase it was relevant. It appears your GPU performance and temperatures are normal, with low usage. VRAM temperatures weren’t visible, but I’ll verify them if needed. One issue I noticed is CPU thread 2 is under heavy load: https://gyazo.com/0a0b312cc69295deec93f8b84cd15196 This could be a distraction from draw calls in games. I’d watch CPU thread activity during lag periods. Regarding stability, are you using W11 or FTPM? That often causes random stutters during gameplay.
Hey! Thanks for your comment. 1) I tried using hwinfo64 and it doesn't have a reading for VRAM on my 3070. If there is another way to monitor it that I am not aware of please let me know! 2) I did notice that too. It appears that CPU4/CPU5/CPU7/CPU9/CPU11/CPU13/CPU16 are not utilized much but I think that it probably an issue on the game side not utilizing all cores. 3) I was using W11 w/ fTPM but the issue still arises when in W10 (currently in w10). I ran across this thread though that says in later BIOS versions for my Mobo that even when it is toggled off it still appears to be on. Thanks for any help edit: I have noticed that when I feel my FPS drops happening the most 240fps -> 60fps that CPU2/3 spikes from aproximately 20% to 60% and then back down. Could it be something like that triggering the fps drops?
I’d prefer the latest BIOS and turn off fTPM despite warnings of possible slowdowns, since fTPM is known to cause problems. You might need to disable two firmware settings: fTPM off followed by rebooting into BIOS and then disabling hardware security/TPM.
I've updated to the newest BIOS and attempted to disable fTPM, but the problem remains. Are CPU speed changes typical for your system? Most cores appear similar in the screenshots. I also see noticeable frame time spikes in those images. Could this be causing the FPS drops or micro stutters you're seeing?
After finishing a Fortnite session, it seems your game runs smoothly overall, yet you notice sudden frame drops. This could definitely be affecting your experience and making the game feel sluggish at times.
