You're experiencing performance issues with your 7870 2GB RAM when playing Fortnite using Mantle, especially with high video settings. It seems like the system is struggling under those conditions. Have you tried adjusting your settings further or checking for any background processes that might be consuming resources? Also, it's worth noting that higher settings can sometimes cause instability on older hardware.

I ran the game at high settings with 60 fps stability, using minor optimization and medium terrain detail. I’m unsure what’s causing the problem. It could be the CPU struggling under the pressure from Battlefield 4.

Was die Leistung in der Vergangenheit stabil gewesen? Falls nicht, könnte ein Wechsel des Prozessors und des Mainboards sinnvoll sein.

Mantle should help enhance performance, particularly for players with a relatively underpowered CPU. Keep an eye on your memory consumption while running BF4; it could indicate a memory leak. Even with 8GB of RAM and 4GB of VRAM, I’m limited to about 30 minutes of playtime because my memory fills up quickly, causing the game to slow down, stutter, and freeze. If this is indeed a memory leak, there’s little you can do—both DICE/EA and AMD have acknowledged problems, but no official fixes are in development at the moment.

Have you tried changing drivers? Like Nohrellas saidt, there is a pretty prominent VRAM leak with mantle. The longer I play, the higher up it goes. For me, it will start around 3 GB used and just climb from there. While I haven't used more than the 290 has, I don't play multiple rounds in a row. I could see it being a problem on cards with less memory. As everything keeps getting updated, it SEEMS like the leak is getting slower.... but since I never get to the point where the game starts skipping, I don't pay attention to it.
