Recently it appears whenever I have any open application—like a YouTube video or Chrome on a default page, sometimes even Discord—I notice my gaming FPS drops significantly, often to half or a quarter. This issue seems more frequent with CS:GO. I've experimented with toggling the "use hardware acceleration when available" setting, but it hasn't made much difference. I'm planning to attach a screenshot of my X1 settings for reference. My PC specs are: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, Intel i7-7700K, ASUS ROG STRIX Z270E motherboard, BIOS version 05.0000C, GeForce RTX 3070 XC3 Ultra, GeForce Game Ready driver 516.59, Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB DDR4 3600, EVGA Supernova 850 Ga 80+ Gold cooler.
Playing on just the main monitor with a GTX 1060 and three screens is how I use it. I can’t test it directly. Things like YouTube videos barely affect performance, so games shouldn’t be impacted much—just a slight drop in frame rate. Something else might be causing this.
I'm not focusing on proving FPS decreases aren't linked to another monitor being on. I believed it was obvious, and I apologize if my message came across incorrectly.
My frame rates are dropping significantly—like from 300 to 150—and I’ve always used two or three monitors. It’s been mostly minor, but lately it’s gotten worse. What @HanZie82 mentioned is right; the changes are small and usually not obvious, though they’re becoming more noticeable lately.
Are you operating with standard settings? If not, consider trying an alternative and see how it performs.
Refers to standard configurations or settings that come pre-installed, such as default operating system features. Also means skipping custom upgrades or performance enhancements.
