It’s fine to disable system restore on your boot drive while keeping it active on other storage. Since you’re not storing large files and your SSD space has decreased after updating the driver, this issue likely stems from the recent changes rather than heavy usage. Clearing the restore point should help.

Don't stress about SSDs or drives—your data will stay safe. Backups are fine, but restore points need to be on the same device.
