I operate for a security firm specializing in camera and access control setups. We typically use refurbished or outdated servers, often Windows 10 models. My setup usually survives the initial issues, though some hardware failures are common. Recently, a customer damaged the front USB port, causing pins to collide and damaging the USB lanes. This is why I rely on older components. My system runs Windows 10 with an i5 processor—still functional despite its age. Currently, the CMOS battery has failed, and the server enters BIOS reset mode asking how to proceed. The PCIe USB card remains unresponsive during boot, preventing any configuration options. Am I stuck? Or are there alternative solutions? The motherboard includes a PS/2 port, which seems independent of the USB connection. Without a mouse, I’m limited, but a peripheral could help.

I managed it in the most awkward way. A USB header had no markings, so I connected the front USB port from another machine onto that blank slot and it functioned.
