I purchased an OEM key but require a full Windows reinstall to activate it. I’ve already saved all my games and everything, but restoring them will take a long time. How can I proceed?

You don't have to reinstall for activation; settings make it simple to turn Windows on.

You can try phone activation. If that fails, you have no other choice. I’d suggest checking your installation before downloading it all next time. Honestly, I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been stuck like this. It’s frustrating, but life’s a trade-off—I’d rather reinstall than keep struggling.

I used the command line and encountered some unusual instructions, so it was definitely with a phone.

A new setup of Windows clears all data from your SSD, so you’ll need to reinstall it. Your 200GB of games will be removed during the process.

Enable the software directly. If you encounter an issue, check the available options.

I'm purchasing a generic key designed to function only when used during setup

You previously inquired about installing fresh but retaining all games and files.

If the license applies to your current operating system, you can simply modify the key and enable it. It seems that activating AFAIK during setup is a known issue.
