My laptop is slowing down a lot and I’m not happy with C-Cleaner or similar tools. I’m using Windows 7 Pro and need to restore or clean my computer without losing data. I’ve checked Google but the recommendations are for Windows 8. Since I don’t plan to back up many files (just an 8GB memory stick), I’d like some advice that fits. Thanks!
It would probably be most effective to just do a full re-install. If you have an OEM PC there is usually a system recovery partition that you can install from, but that will leave you with all the normal OEM bloatware that it had initially. If you have a custom PC, you probably don't have many options other than just re-installing.
For a brand-new laptop, ensure you have a repair or backup partition ready. Activate it with certain keys during startup to reset the device to its original settings.
