Hello everyone, I'm looking for some advice. I have an i5-6600K with a Cooler Master Hyper 212X cooler in a Cooler Master k-350 case, but even without overclocking, the CPU temperatures still reach 70ºC during gaming. I'm considering upgrading to a better cooler to handle the overclock better. Do you have any recommendations for this CPU and case? Any type of cooler—air cooling or closed-loop liquid—is fine. My budget is around 150 euros (about 135 pounds).

70C without an overclock seems unusual. Have you checked if the CPU cooler was re-seated? If it's not, you should see much lower temperatures, which indicates a very effective cooler.

Somewhat cooler needs a reliable supply of fresh air to function properly.
I might consider replacing my current case.
It only supports one front 120mm intake fan.
My needs would involve at least two filtered 120mm or 140mm front intakes.
If all your air comes from a single source and is filtered, it helps keep the components cleaner.
Could you tell me the motherboard size (M-ATX, ATX, ITX)?
What graphics card are you using?
You could verify this idea by removing your case covers.
Direct a house fan inside the case.
If that resolves the issue, consider exploring a case cooling solution.
The Hyper212X is known to be challenging to install.
What is your room temperature?
At idle, I’d expect temperatures around 10-15°C above ambient.
If it’s significantly higher, double-check your cooler setup.
Excessive paste can act as an insulator.
Ensure the cooler is properly aligned with the CPU for optimal cooling.

A cooler benefits from a solid supply of fresh air for optimal performance. I’d probably consider replacing my current case. It only supports one front 120mm intake fan, but my needs call for at least two filtered 120mm/140mm intakes. Keeping all intake from a single source and filtering it helps maintain cleaner components. Could you share your motherboard model (M-ATX, ATX, ITX)? What graphics card are you running? You might want to try removing the case covers to test if a new case improves things. Directing a house fan inside could also help. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, consider a dedicated case cooling solution. The Hyper212X is known for being tricky to install. What’s your room temperature like? At idle, I’d expect around 10-15°C, within the normal range. If it’s significantly higher, double-check your cooler setup. Excessive paste can act as an insulator, and misalignment between the cooler and CPU won’t help cooling. I own an ATX MSI Z170A-Pro with a MSI GTX 1060, but next month I’ll upgrade to a GTX 1080. In summer, my ambient temperature is about 30°C, and when idle the CPU reaches 45°C to 50°C.

Temperature is extremely high. It seems the cooling system may be failing.

Hi, does the 212x actually fit the K350 case? I noticed the case only fits a CPU fan shorter than 148.5cm.
