It seems you're questioning the legality of the operating system. It appears some content closely resembles Mac OS designs. I've attached a video link for your reference.

Not sure... since its not paid for it could be fair use and they could be fine as long as there is no "obvious effect" on apple's sales

It seems reasonable that many Linux and Unix-like systems are open-source. It appears quite similar to OS X and Apple products, but 1) anyone with determination and expertise could easily adapt it, and 2) I don’t believe the overall "vibe" of MacOS is protected by trademarks or copyrights. In most situations like this, even if something was borrowed, the developers or company typically face consequences rather than being targeted by nearly untraceable users. I’m going to give it a try.

I believe the Mac OS, OS X, is protected because it closely resembles the aqua interface design. Based on that, I’d likely conclude this software is questionable in legality.

The operating system remains secure without any doubt, and previous warnings about mockups have been made. Most instances are outdated or not referenced properly. It highlights how inspiration comes from various sources, making it hard to claim ownership over someone else's work if your contribution is significantly different. The copyright notice on graphical interfaces states that it should be "easily confused with another by an average user." This allows Apple to safeguard Aqua extensively, but the overall impression will determine its legality. The visual style can be very similar as long as it remains distinguishable. However, effects involving water, shadows, and reflections won't suffice alone. When Apple contested MS over an Aqua skin, they emphasized the design elements (like Pearl's features) and icons. Small details like images and icons might help protect the concept. Nonetheless, if Pear OS (similar to macOS or Linux) was targeted, Apple likely would have acted, though no major users were affected. I suspect that if Pear is deemed "confusingly similar" to OSX, the same outcome would follow. It’s also worth noting the ongoing rivalry between Apple and Samsung. Currently, it’s legal, but future developments are uncertain. Its impact will depend on whether Apple pressures Pearl to stop support. On a different note, using another Linux distribution might be better for everyday use—not just because of Pear’s limited support, but also due to its smaller community and known instability. Linux offers great flexibility, with customizable options like GNOME and KDE (features used in Pear), plus a strong community for assistance.

Yes its totaly legal. Pearl Os is nothing more then a Linux distribution with LXDE desktop envoirement, with some MAC OSX style theming + cairo dock going on. There is nothing illegal on that at all, since its open source. You could basicly make any linux distro look like Mac OSX or whatever you want. There are way more MAC osx like linux distributions for that matter. There is nothing Apple can do about it. - Snowblack Linux. (aka pear OS) based on Ubuntu. - Elementary OS based on Ubuntu.
