PCVR Quest 3 PC setup
PCVR Quest 3 PC setup
Considered using the wireless headset and a PC connected via Ethernet cable.
Wireless works well with Wi-Fi 6, 5 also functions but ensure your main computer connects directly to the router and you have strong signal strength in your headset area. This prevents poor picture quality or lag during gameplay. Consider using an aftermarket headset strap that includes a built-in 8000mAh battery since standard headsets usually last only about two hours. For streaming, try the virtual desktop app—it offers more stability and performance compared to MetaLink or Steam Link. If you're playing seated Sims, a link cable with extra power delivery can help charge your headset while you play. USB 3 connections work best for higher bandwidth video streams, but I mainly use them for flight sims where long seated sessions matter.
Your configuration looks good. Since everyone's network setup varies, it's still uncertain, but I've been using my Quest 1 and now Quest 2 entirely wireless on my Wi-Fi (no dedicated router or Wi-Fi 6) without any problems. It depends mainly on your router, placement, and a little luck (like avoiding interference).
Quest devices transmit a scrambled video feed via USB, but they lack a dedicated display connection. This makes them less ideal for PCVR setups.
I didn't mean anything positive—I just said it wasn't great. Regarding the image quality, it falls short compared to a specialized PCVR headset with built-in display support.
