PCIe slot isn't compatible with the GPU model.
It could be a simple mistake on my end, but I’m confused about what’s going on. I attempted to insert my GPU into the PCIe slot, but before it connects, the left side of its mounting bracket contacts something. I removed all expansion slots and still face the same issue. It seems like the bottom where the GPU’s metal pins are getting caught. The picture might not be clear enough, but this is what appears to be happening.
Ensure the metal prongs on the PCI plate have passed through the motherboard. Varying the angle may require forcing it in, so verify clearance first. Once confirmed, apply firm pressure until it secures properly. It's best to place the system on its side with the board up for optimal leverage. This method lets you push straight down rather than at an awkward angle, reducing stress on the PCIe connector.
The output port cover might be touching the interior of the case frame within the expansion slot opening. New cards will feature plastic dust caps that slightly rise to enable removal, which could lead to contact with the case frame based on the port's vertical position.
Use a plastic or wooden knife, ruler or similar tool with comparable thickness to probe the space and check for blockages. Shine a torch or phone light from behind to improve visibility. Look for a cable or slight movement in the board by loosening screws gently. Verify that the prongs at the end of the card bracket are straight.
I've uncovered an unusual issue that makes me admit this might be my first mistake. Usually I keep protective film intact to confirm the part is genuine and needs an RMA. Recently, during a build, it seemed to contribute to a problem where my GPU would lift out of its slot without a latch. It would randomly stop working even though everything appeared normal, but no screen was visible. Once, fixing it by gently pushing on cables, modules, and the GPU helped it sit properly. I suspected something about the protective sheeting around the expansion slot might be sticking against the slot cage, forcing the card to bind. This has never happened before. After removing the sheeting, installation went much smoother. I'll wait a few weeks to see if it resolves. If it doesn't, I'll know what's going on. Hopefully you're thinking of checking for similar signs.
