Hello, I'm new to PCIe slots and not sure what "x4", "x8", or "x16" means. Are these different types of slots? I want to know if this motherboard will work without any problems. The product page mentions "1x PCIe 4, x4," and the Amazon image matches the slot size. Could someone with more experience clarify this for me? Thanks!

The card supports a PCIe 3.0 x4 connection. This standard is backward and forward compatible, meaning a PCIe 3 device will operate perfectly in a PCIe 4 port. The specifications indicate that x4, x8, and x16 denote the number of lanes available, but physical slot dimensions can vary. Some slots may appear as x4 or x8 electrically yet physically match an x16 size. While a x16 card will fit, it won't provide the complete 16 lanes of data transfer.

The card should fit, but it won't function properly. Most Threadripper boards lack a Thunderbolt header, which is necessary for Thunderbolt cards to operate. You'll have to choose a board that supports Thunderbolt, such as the Gigabyte Designare, if you want this feature.
