Sure! PCIe Gen4 is mainly used for high-speed storage devices like M.2 NVMe drives, but it can also support certain graphics cards in specific configurations. Let me clarify for you.

PCIe 4.0 will manage everything PCIe 3.0 could. It's not a brand-new rule, it's merely a fresh execution. It supports both future and past devices, meaning your existing cards should function in a PCIe 4.0 port. Just like PCIe 3.0, the maker must include a PCIe 4.0 specification on the IO card, but the real question is whether the card can utilize the higher bandwidth.

Yes, the NVMe socket can also be PCIe Gen 4 compatible.

If Nvidia drops a Gen4 card this year, I think Intel would be in trouble. I was curious about whether they omitted the necessary pins for PCIe Gen4 like AMD did. Edited August 16, 2020 by AshSenpai

Some models 3 and 4 share the same connector, yet varying protocols and chipset details could affect marketing points. I question whether future GPUs can really push PCIe 3.0 x16 for everyday use—it would represent a massive performance jump, or maybe next-gen titles are built for high bandwidth needs.

They might issue a card targeting a niche segment because it appeals to a specific group, maximizing interest and demand within that community.

good point,if next gen is really next gen that would benefits to use gen4 then im screwed cause i cant wait for my next build any longer i want it future proof i tend to upgrade rarely like buy the high end stuff and after 6 years upgrade again

It could not help them at the moment, yet they might make it available so consumers next year would know about it and have a good reason to upgrade—probably just for marketing purposes.
