Hi! I recently assembled a new PC and everything is functioning properly. Last night I removed the HDMI cable from my RTX 3060 TI and after reconnecting it didn’t work. Then I connected it to the onboard GPU and began checking for issues. The system shows: Motherboard – MSI MAG B760 TOMAHAWK WIFI (PCIe 5 16x & PCIe 3 4x), GPU – RTX 3060 TI, CPU – Intel i5 13500, RAM – Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000 MHz C36 (2x 16 GB), Power supply – Enermax 850W, OS – Windows 10/Ubuntu Mate 22.04. The RTX 3060 TI operates in the PCIe 3 port but not the PCIe 5 slot. After startup it starts fans quickly then stops. It becomes hot over time and gets power yet isn’t detected. An older RTX 970 also fails in the PCIe 5 slot, but its fans run. Power is supplied but no response. A BIOS update didn’t resolve the problem, driver updates helped nothing, and a CMOS reset wasn’t effective. Could be a problem with the PCIe 5 port itself—maybe it’s faulty or not properly seated. I’m not sure if the HDMI plug issue was the main cause. Let me know your thoughts! Best, Matthias
You haven't utilized PCIe slot 1 because it's not compatible with your current hardware setup or requirements.
Apologies for the slow response and any confusion. Yes, I’m referring to PCIe slot 1, which supports Gen 5.0. It seems I couldn’t locate a viable fix. I believe the slot is no longer functional. If anyone has quick insights or simple checks that could confirm this, it would be helpful since I want to avoid sending the motherboard for repair.
