Typically the titles mention specific details; for PCIe 4 support and Intel Core i7-8700K compatibility, you may need to upgrade your CPU if you want that feature.

The 8700k isn't compatible with PCIe Gen 4, and no compatible motherboard exists. For Intel's PCIe Gen 4 support, consider a Z490 or a 500-series board like Z590 or B560.

Pci-e4.0 functions with 8700K only at PCI-e3.0 velocity. To achieve PCI-e4.0 performance, you require an 11th generation Intel processor and a 500 series motherboard. Certain Z490 models can also run Gen4 with an 11th generation CPU.

I agree with your assessment. The CPU is only compatible with Gen 3. To get a 4th generation processor, you'll need to upgrade to a new motherboard and a 10th or 11th generation CPU since the 8th and 9th use LGA1151 while the 10th and 11th use LGA1200. I recommend Z-series boards as they support overclocking better than B-series.

Only the 11th generation Intel models back gen4 support. The M2 slot on B560, H570, and Z590 chips connects directly to the CPU and won’t work with 10th generation processors.

The latest update confirms the 10th generation supports 4.0. Intel plans a "mod mondays" event tomorrow, giving you a chance to participate and possibly win prizes.

why don't you try to quote the person directly instead of trying to sound right? that would be hilarious if people actually did it here. i also mentioned that if i'm right, intel will be doing a "mod mondays" tomorrow and the question can be asked then you might win some prizes.
