I was curious about potential performance drops if I added a secondary GPU into the PCIe 2.0 16x slot. It would run my secondary display at 1080p with 60Hz, mainly for streaming services like YouTube, Discord, and others. For running my main mobile game on the secondary screen while gaming on the primary display, some research suggests it might use about a quarter of the bandwidth (2GBps). This could result in lower frame rates compared to using the PCIe 3.0 slot. However, since I’m not gaming on the secondary display, as long as the GPU meets the required 60fps, it shouldn’t be an issue. Personally, I’ve got two GTX 1070s and I’m still considering upgrading to something like the 3700x or 2700x with better support. The MSI B450 Tomahawk supports SLI, but the ASUS X470 Taichi doesn’t.

for display only, 4x is more than enough. no need for sli.
