I recently watched a video that inspired me to share this. My setup includes a Gigabyte Aorus Elite x570 with a Ryzen 3700x and an RX5700. I'm trying to make the most of the PCI-E port connected to the RX5700, assuming it doesn't require full x16 bandwidth. I'm searching for a bifurcation board offering x8 and two x4 slots. Anyone has recommendations? Does my motherboard support this configuration? Would the 5700 actually need x8 PCI-E 4.0 or could x4 work? If yes, I might use a 4x x4 M.2 expansion with adapters. My existing slots already have M.2 to PCI-E adapters, and I have a 10Gb card in an x4 slot plus an x1 adapter over USB 3.0 (though I'm unsure about using USB for PCI-E signals). I'm considering adding another case if needed, connecting riser cables from my main case to extend the setup. I've heard PCI-E 4.0 needs repeaters every few inches, but I found extensions claiming support up to a foot. Do you have any insights or experience with this? Could I link two repeaters together? Also, could an RX5700 handle PCI-E 3.0 x8 even when set to 3.0?
No changes were made to the PCI-E version, it remains at 3.0. The setting for 8X was not applied. These choices aren't available for you.
