PC won’t switch on
PC won’t switch on
Hi
My parents' PC won’t turn on. I’m not sure what caused it, but there was a broadband outage and possibly a power outage earlier. They have a Virgin Media V6 which completely failed at the same time as the PC. The back light of the power supply turns on, but the power LED near the power button doesn’t. When I plugged the power cable into the back of the PC power supply, it made a clicking sound before, but now it doesn’t. The PC is quite old but still functions properly for its intended use. Replacing it isn’t an option. I’m wondering if this could be related to a power supply issue?
Here’s the PC: https://icecat.co.uk/p/vendorName/mpn/desc-4000082.html
Any suggestions for a suitable power supply would be really helpful.
Thank you.
I'm just going on a hunch being as the PC has an i5-650 CPU and that motherboard is a 1156 were talking 2009-2010 model I bet being it's your parents has spent it's whole life always plugged into wall power.
Un plug and open it up and carefully remove the coin size battery and if you have one use a DC volt meter and read the life in battery.
Just go get a new battery and see if it lets PC kick back on. If it does you might have to set a few things in BIOS or just the date and time.
Thank you for the suggestion.
Would this work?
