Details: ASRock B450M Pro4-F AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Nvidia GTX 1050ti (used) with 16gb dual DDR4 3200MHz, Klevv Cras X RGB 256GB SSD, Adata XPG SX8200 Pro M.2 NVMe 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM Silver Stone SST, 550W power supply, Strider Essential, PSU, 80PLUS gold Tecware Alpha (used), and a Dell 24-inch IPS monitor (used). I set everything up correctly and expected normal operation. When the fans began spinning and the RAM lights up, the monitor showed nothing. The keyboard’s NumLock function worked, indicating basic functionality. I connected an HDMI 2.0 cable to the GPU, tried using a different port on the motherboard, and even used a VGA cable. No results. The monitor supports DVI, DisplayPort, and other ports, but I haven’t tested them yet. I reinserted all components and changed the CMOS battery, yet nothing changed. I connected my CPU directly to a power outlet without success. Possible causes include BIOS issues on the motherboard (unable to flash), compatibility problems with B450 boards and Ryzen 5 3600, GPU-related faults (cleaned, heatsink swapped, thermal paste reapplied), or faulty cables/monitor. Any advice on resolving this? Edited February 25, 2020 by User
It seems your board likely requires an updated BIOS to function properly with the latest Ryzen processors. If you purchased it brand new, the BIOS should be current. However, if it’s a used board, the BIOS might be outdated and could affect performance.
It's accurate that it functions with the Ryzen 3000 line, yet checking their site shows your board requires a BIOS upgrade—your unit might sit on the shelf for a year if not updated.
I've already attempted it, but it seems to be ineffective. I'll update my bio as soon as possible. Thanks!
Place it in slots 2 and 4, then allow it to start up. The initial boot may take a few minutes. Yes, it should connect via HDMI to the GPU.
Absolutely, the GPU is the key here. The 1050ti has been running for a while now, and it's clear you needed a refresh.
