PC will announce itself, then quickly shut down
My computer will restart then shut down, yet it remains stuck in a problem state. It starts up normally, displays the BIOS logo, and transitions to a message saying “BIOS has been reset, reconfigure if necessary,” with only an “OK” option. If you press OK, the screen turns black, the motherboard lights stay on, but all fans stop working. Once I pressed OK, it briefly entered BIOS for a second before going dark. Even after changing the CPU, motherboard, and graphics card, the issue persists. I also replaced the CMOS battery, but that didn’t solve it. I updated the BIOS to ensure compatibility with my CPU. PC PARTS used: Ryzen 5900X, Gigabyte X570 AORUS Elite, Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, Samsung 980 Pro 500GB PCIe NVME, Corsair CX Series 550W, ASUS GTX 750 Ti. I really need guidance since I’ve been confused for several days. Thanks for any advice!
Are there any startup components? Are there additional peripherals connected besides the mouse and keyboard? Does it function in safe mode? This might be related to a bootloop problem based on how long it takes to resolve. Usually, breaking the cycle is the only solution—perhaps resetting CMOS or switching to another OS. Have you attempted to refresh the BIOS once more? It might have failed during installation.
We’ve removed the CMOS and replaced the battery. It seems the issue isn’t a loop—it just shuts down completely. The biggest confusion is that the MotherBored lights stay on while fans and other components turn off (except the motherboard). We have a keyboard and mouse connected, which gives us video output. We don’t make it far enough to reach the startup settings. I can control the screen briefly, then everything turns off no matter what. We can’t enter safe mode or anything similar.
It's challenging, but I'll give it a shot. I'd consider switching to a different power supply unit first before reaching out for an RMA. Also, make sure you're connected to the GPU, not the built-in HDMI. Could you tell me what you replaced with?
