PC using a green screen is experiencing crashes.
Hey everyone, I’m looking for some guidance on what might be causing the issues you’re seeing. My system randomly turns green across all screens and shows no text. There’s a photo attached. It sometimes runs for days, other times just a few minutes. After cleaning dust out and reseating everything except the CPU, it still doesn’t work. I’ve updated drivers and BIOS, but performance drops under any load—only about 50% usage on CPU, GPU, and RAM. My machine is an i7-7700k with 32GB DDR4, RX 6800, and a Platinum SSD. It’s my main work PC, so stability is crucial. I’ve tried everything, but I’m not sure what’s wrong. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
This green screen is usually tied to VGA. With all three monitors involved, it’s unlikely the cable or displays are the problem. It probably points to the GPU. If you’ve already updated the drivers and reinstalled them, a faulty card might be the cause. You could try using another GPU in the system or test your GPU on another machine. Alternatively, remove the GPU and see if integrated graphics work without issues.
I’ll replace the GPU, I have a GTX1080 available and want to check it out. Thanks for the idea! All three monitors are using HDMI or DP to HDMI instead of VGA if you care about that.
