PC unsolved: cannot boot beyond the motherboard logo.
Hey there, I see you're dealing with a tricky issue with your PC. It's frustrating when the boot screen freezes and doesn't load an OS, especially after trying everything. You mentioned no new hardware added recently, and the motherboard was replaced in December 2022 after a bad RAM channel. The BIOS seems to be working, but you can't get past it. Your setup includes a good RAM stick, decent power supply, and a solid drive setup. Have you checked for any recent updates or firmware changes? Sometimes software glitches can mimic hardware problems. Let me know if you want help with troubleshooting steps!
It seems like your Windows setup might have been damaged. You’ll likely need to reinstall the operating system. Transfer all your files from the original drive—put them on another computer, use File Explorer, or boot into an Ubuntu image and copy it to an external hard drive. Then you can follow one of the many fresh installation instructions available online.
I attempted that too, including creating a bootable USB and trying to start without any hard drives installed—still nothing. Steps number 8/9
While holding the shift key during the boot process, can you access the recovery options?
I might attempt that once I’m off, but I’ll assume it won’t work. As I mentioned before, everything else removed and just a bootable USB left, it wouldn’t start either, so it doesn’t seem related to Windows or the SSD.
The most recent image was being processed toward the troubleshooting interface... or perhaps it failed before reaching that stage? If you access it, I’d attempt to remove the latest Windows update. I’ve noticed problems when users haven’t updated their system for a while. Shutting down the machine three times during startup should also lead to access.
It reaches the screen and the icons pause, then it freezes just like before every time I attempt to start it.
It seems like the issue is likely a disk-related problem, such as a disk error or failure. If you can't access troubleshooting tools, consider checking the disk directly.
