Searching for guidance on operating two different operating systems on the same machine. Need advice on using a second SSD in another PC and troubleshooting boot issues with Windows 11 after switching OSes.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! I have a couple of programs I wish to run from the old Windows 8.1 that won't work on 11Pro. You can attempt to install the app by using compatibility mode, for example, right-click the installer, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and choose Windows X from the dropdown menu.

If I understand correctly, the Samsung 840 was running a Win 8.1 OS from another source, and now it's being placed into a different system? And it's not booting? That's quite common. Transferring a drive with an OS installation usually doesn't work properly.

Thanks, I've looked into partitioning and wanted to see if it's feasible.

Thank you, I attempted that and it didn't work.
I learned about partitions and considered it might be an option.

The system doesn't support moving an operating system between devices. Physical storage or partitions matter. You might still need Windows 8.1 for certain reasons.

Isn't Geekom one of those firms where you need to download their own tailored version of Windows for their unique motherboard? Perhaps the Geekom site offers guidance on getting Windows 8.1 to function with their board. However, I checked there and all their support documents mention Windows 10 or 11. If you attempt a clean install of 8.1, it might be a better solution.
