A month ago I began experiencing my PC freezing or stuttering unexpectedly, though it seems to happen more often while streaming a game on Discord. It also occurs during regular gaming sessions and when watching YouTube videos, where the video freezes and then disconnects from audio when it recovers. Occasionally, games will stutter for just a second before returning to normal. At times, the whole game freezes, requiring me to either close and reopen it or face a crash with an error message (often related to graphics card issues like "Your rendering device has been lost" or "unable to start up 3D acceleration"). When using an Xbox controller, it also disconnects during freezing.

I have performed every stress test possible for each component I could, ensuring no freezing, stuttering, errors, or overheating. Temperatures stayed low: CPU idle at 30°C, CPU at 80°C under load, GPU idle at 50°C and 80°C under load. Despite these readings, they rarely reached such levels during normal gameplay.

BIOS is up to date, and I've tried both default settings and with an XMP profile. I also cleared the CMOS. I started on Windows 11 originally, then reinstalled it to Windows 10, which I currently use. All drivers are up to date, and everything is properly connected on the motherboard.

I ran standard stress tests using Cinebench, MemTest86, FurMark, and other tools with OCCT. Based on what I've discovered so far, it appears to be a hardware problem. However, I'm struggling to identify exactly which component is faulty since all tests are running smoothly without issues.

Any advice on possible causes? And if it's a hardware issue, how can I determine what part is defective without having other components available for testing?

Specs:
- ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming
- MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Duke OC
- Intel Core i7-8086k
- G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200MHz 4x8GB
- 2x Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 SSD
- Corsair HX850i
- NZXT Kraken X52 Cooler

What is the age of the HX850i?
Did all four of your DIMMs arrive in one kit, or are you using multiple kits even though they have the same part number?
Have you performed any tests on the drives to confirm their health and ensure they are up to date with the firmware?
If it functions properly during video playback, consider removing the graphics card from the system entirely—take it out and use the iGPU instead. Then watch videos to see if performance remains consistent.
It seems this issue could relate to a power supply unit or graphics card, so a clean installation of the Nvidia drivers after running DDU in safe mode might be helpful.
