PC struggles significantly due to memory problems.
I recently upgraded my PC and have faced some performance problems. After switching from NVIDIA to AMD (and removing the NVIDA BIOS), I’m experiencing blue screens or memory errors when XMP or EXPO is active. When those features are turned off, everything runs smoothly according to OCCT results. My overall speed drops noticeably with integrated graphics on and EXPO enabled—my 3D mark averages 3700 versus 4100 for similar hardware without them. When I switch back to integrated graphics and EXPO on, it falls to around 3500. Running it again with EXPO enabled gives a 3100, and three attempts at 2800 when EXPO is active. My system specs are listed below: Ryzen 7 7700X, Gigabyte A620i AX, 32 GB DDR5 RAM, 240mL Phanteks Sapphire Pulse 7800XT, 500GB NVMe SSD, 2TB external NVMe SSD (USB-C), 850W cooler, and a Gen4 PCIe riser cable. I’m using Windows 11 PRO, with the latest graphics drivers and stable chipset/CPU settings. Temperatures stay around 70°C during tests. RAM has been re-seated multiple times, and all old BIOS versions have been removed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I’ve experimented with various configurations for weeks.
That's not good .... But I suppose you mean driver? Oh? Well, actually, I think there's massive issue with that potentially... But let me get this straight? You didn't try with "integrated" GPU disabled? JFYI I just got a laptop with "integrated" graphics from AMD... It was nigh unusable until I turned that off... Now it's smooth as silk... Something about amd and Nvidia drivers doesn't work well together and to be clear that's likely on AMD because Intel/Nvidia works seamlessly. So I wouldn't be surprised at all if it doesn't play nice with AMD "actual" graphics either... Is there a particular reason you wanna use the iGPU and why "pro" drivers specifically? Ah...
Using the default AMD drivers—whether new or older—often led to crashes and poor gameplay with frequent frame drops. Those problems disappeared in the PRO version, but I’m wondering if switching drivers could improve things. To be precise, performance remains lacking even after disabling the built-in GPU; I don’t recall the exact setting name, but it was the only integrated graphics option in my BIOS. The available choices were “off,” “force,” and “auto.”
For the riser cable, I experienced no issues with my 2060 model before. Since it’s a Gen 4 cable, that shouldn’t be a concern.
