PC stops working during gameplay - "Kernel Power 41" issue?
Hello,
never experienced any issues with my system until today.
Gtx1080
ryzen7 5800x 3d
x370 krait gaming AM4
32 gigs RAM @3200MHz
650w be quiet power zone model Z1 - 650W
Bios Vers. 1.L6 AMD AGESA Combo AM4v2PI 1.2.0.A
It is shutting down while gaming after 10-15 minutes (GPU 80°C)
(CPU 70-80°C)
Temperatures remained stable, normal during load for me.
I also ran a GPU stress test which resulted in the same shutdown after 10-15 minutes.
What I find unusual is that the CPU stress test continued for an hour without shutting down.
When my PC turned off, I couldn’t restart—it had to be unplugging the power supply and then plugging it back in.
No overclocking was attempted.
I also tried underclocking RAM to 2666MHz just to rule out RAM speed as the cause—results didn’t change.
Do you think the power supply is the issue?

650W is the stated power output of the device. Could you share the brand and model of the PSU, as well as its age? What is the make and model of your motherboard? Do you know the BIOS version for your motherboard?

It's about six years old, mostly just watching YouTube, not often under heavy load.
The motherboard is X370 Krait gaming AM4.
Bios Version: 1.L6 AMD AGESA Combo AM4v2PI 1.2.0.A
It seems the PSU could be the cause. How old is it? Wear and aging may lead to shutdowns. Have you looked into the Windows Event Viewer for any errors near the time of the crashes? Also, would you like to keep an eye on power usage while gaming? It might be reaching its limit on your PSU. Checking for irregular voltage readings in the BIOS or using tools such as HWMonitor could also help verify if the PSU is the issue.
