Last night my PC stopped working and after a restart it displayed a serious error about winload.exe, but soon afterward it functioned properly again. Recently it happened once more, and I realized my Samsung 970 EVO, which runs Windows, isn’t showing up. After a few restarts it reappears! My CrystalDisk check showed everything normal, so I suspect the NVMe port or possibly the motherboard might be the issue. My motherboard is an older model (MSI B350m Tomahawk Artic), and I’m currently using a Ryzen 3600x with a 3070. So far everything has worked well. Do you have any suggestions for fixing this kind of problem?

Try a different SATA port. Ensure the SATA and power cables are properly connected on the drive side.

It's not a SATA drive, it's an NVMe device.

Do you have an extra CPU on hand? I was thinking about trying to borrow one first, since it’s simpler to swap it out. If that doesn’t work, we can switch the mainboard instead.

I don’t possess one, yet I have a laptop equipped with an extra NVME port, so perhaps I could attempt to install it there and observe the outcome.

What do you mean by M.2 port? It might not be reliable there—it could just be a SATA controller port for SSDs, not PCIe. Once connected, use Samsung Magician to verify your disk status. If you need further testing, visit a local repair shop that has CPUs available to compare performance. Before proceeding, ensure the NVMe drive is securely fastened; I've seen cases where it comes loose if not properly seated.
