PC starts into Windows properly, but encounters freezing issues and a kernel panic during Ubuntu installation.
Hi, I'm working on a compact PC intended for use as a ROON server on Ubuntu. The system runs a Gigabyte Z590I mini ITX board with an Intel Core i5 11400F CPU and includes a GTX 660 graphics card for display output. It operates smoothly until the installation process begins. When I tried to install Ubuntu, it launched GRUB without problems but then froze completely, refusing any input until I clicked the "try" or "install" option. After extensive tweaking in the BIOS and adjusting settings, it stopped freezing when booting into Ubuntu, instead triggering a kernel panic and freezing entirely. This issue occurred regardless of safe mode or graphical login. Even when attempting Windows installation as a workaround, everything worked fine. I've explored Secure Boot and other BIOS configurations, but the BIOS remains overly complex. I'm at a loss and would really appreciate guidance from someone more experienced with Linux. Please attach the kernel panic screenshot you mentioned. Thanks in advance, Lukas.
