The system starts and stops repeatedly, then stabilizes after a brief period. After that, it turns on fully and remains active, showing the startup screen briefly on my main monitor before shutting down completely. The display connects via HDMI to the onboard GPU. The discrete GPU outputs DP and HDMI signals back to the login screen. My gaming performance has dropped noticeably—average FPS in several titles is 30-50% lower. I’ve verified all cables, removed and reinserted the card, replaced the BIOS battery, but I’m unsure about other hardware settings. No error lights are illuminated on the mainboard. Assistance would be very helpful.
Model details: Intel i7-8700K, Windows 10 Home, 64-bit, ASUS ROG Strix z-390, Zotac GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, Corsair 3200MHz BeQuiet!, 2x16GB RAM at 3200MHz, 750W, 80+ Gold.
Open the BIOS settings and adjust the PCIe GPU sequence. Activate "iGPU Multi-Monitor." It appears you have one monitor connected to the dGPU and another to the iGPU. For gaming, ensure your main GPU is the dGPU; otherwise, games optimized for dGPU will perform worse when shown on the iGPU.
The fix resolved the output and FPS problems, though I'm still unsure if the interrupted startup will happen again. Thanks a lot!
