PC shutting down and attempting to stay on constantly
Hi guys. I set up my system around four years ago and have noticed a recurring issue roughly every two months. The computer freezes briefly, then restarts automatically, trying to power on with fans spinning and lights flashing, but after a second it shuts off again before attempting to boot. After turning off the power supply completely and restarting it, the problem stops. Recently, upgrading my RAM from two 4GB sticks to two 8GB sticks (with XMP enabled in BIOS) has increased the frequency of crashes—now happening once or twice a week. I suspect the issue might be related to the PSU, especially during level transitions in games or when opening videos in the browser. What do you think?
I agree with what was said. The PSU is the issue. It worked fine for entry-level systems ten years back, but not suitable for today's gaming machines.
At that time it occurred once more, with audio/video freezes lasting roughly a minute before the restart.
I inspected the interior of the case and didn’t discover any loose or stripped cables; I re-seated the RAM just in case.
I’m placing an order for a Seasonic B12 BC Series 650W to install tomorrow and will let you know once it arrives.
Thank you.
I put in the new PSU and initially the system would restart every time I loaded windows, which isn’t ideal. Later I managed to turn it on and use it properly. I looked in the event viewer and saw an AMDDrivermaster error during startup, so I updated the drivers and it’s not showing up anymore. However, I still encounter a Kernel Power 41 error whenever I shut down or restart the PC (not just during reboot). There are no error logs being generated, making it hard to figure out what’s happening.
