Hello everyone, I'm facing a challenging problem with my PC and would appreciate some guidance. A few weeks back, I replaced my CPU, motherboard, and power supply unit, yet I've been experiencing persistent blue screens accompanied by the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR code. The issue began even when I was using just the desktop, but it became more common during gaming sessions. What I've attempted: Turned off PBO in BIOS – this reduced the number of crashes significantly. The incidents have lessened, though they still happen in VR. RAM swap tried – the problem persisted, so it doesn’t seem to be a RAM fault. Present situation: Now, the system only fails when I’m playing VR. It usually starts around the midpoint of the game and instead of displaying the blue screen, the PC restarts automatically. In Event Viewer, I see WHEA error entries, but I’m uncertain if the blue screen is no longer visible because the system shuts down quickly. Error details in Event Viewer: The WHEA error indicates: Reported by component – Processor Core Error Source – Machine Check Exception Error Type – Bus/Interconnect Error Processor APIC ID – 10 (varies with each crash). What I believe: CPU overheating – At the moment, I have a 120mm AIO cooler, and I’m starting to think the CPU might be overheating, particularly given its high demand during VR. Although I’m not sure if overheating would directly trigger this error or just cause thermal throttling and performance drops. System specifications: CPU – Ryzen 9 5900x Motherboard – ASRock X570 Steel Legend PSU – 850W Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB RAM – Currently one 32GB 3200MHz stick, but I also experimented with four 8GB 2666MHz sticks Cooling – 120mm AIO (recheck end) GPU – Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 8GB OS – Windows 10

I need to make some updates. I upgraded my AIO to a 360mm model. The PC no longer shows blue screens, but it now restarts abruptly while gaming. What’s odd is that the WHEA error no longer appears in Event Viewer, only “Kernel-Power” shows up. Update: WHEA errors have returned. Could this be related to a failing PSU? Here’s a screenshot of Event Viewer – the latest was today at 9:50 PM, the most recent WHEA-Logger entry was yesterday at 11:44 PM (the clock mistakenly showed PM, but only the last two entries are accurate, as it was during my troubleshooting).

Latest BIOS updates aren't being applied, causing CPU temperatures to rise significantly. The highest reading I observed was around 94°C (about 201°F).

Updating the BIOS might be worth considering. The temperatures are rising, but overheating could indeed lead to a blue screen. It’s better to address the issue rather than risking hardware damage. You’re right—thermal throttling and lag are better solutions than a larger watercooler.

It seems the cooler isn’t secured correctly. Consider wiping it down and re-spreading the thermal paste on the CPU. I’m not sure if this will clear the blue screens, but it could help with overheating.

I ordered a 360mm AIO, just hoping it gets here soon. I plan to install it and if it doesn’t solve the problem, I’ll reach out again.

A new version of aio came out today, I installed it but it kept restarting with the same issue—this time I wasn’t using VR.
