PC shuts down unexpectedly due to random freezing.
My pc sometimes freezes when it reaches the "shutting down" screen, requiring a hard reset by holding the power button. This seems to occur occasionally—perhaps three times so far. The RGB display remains active during these freezes if that matters to you. There was also a single freeze when launching a game via Steam, which required a restart in the same manner. The issue hasn't been consistently reproduced yet. Most of the time it shuts off without any problems.
I've tried several solutions: updated the BIOS, disabled fast startup, cleaned DDU and rolled back the GPU driver, ran a SFC scan and checked the disk in Command Prompt, installed Windows updates, ensured the hardware isn't overheating, reset the RAM and turned off Expo in BIOS, ran MemTest86 overnight with no errors, and verified loose power cables.
Details about the system:
- OS: Windows 11
- CPU: 9800x3D
- Cooler: Nzxt Kraken Elite 360
- GPU: 5090 Aorus Master Ice
- Motherboard: MSI X870e Ti Edge Wi-Fi
- RAM: 2x32GB DDR5 6000MHz Corsair Dominator
- Power Supply: Corsair Rmx Shift 1200W
- Storage: 4TB Samsung 9100 NVMe
Please let me know if I missed anything. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
For relevance, please specify the BIOS version currently in use.
The GPU driver was cleaned and rolled back by DDU.
Is the iGPU turned off in the BIOS?
RAM specifications: 2x32GB DDR5 6200MHz CL30 Corsair Dominator.
Do you have a link to this RAM model?
Are there any .dmp files present? What does Event Viewer indicate?
Thank you for the reply. The latest version of BIOS is as of July 18th-7E59v1A52. You can find support at https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-X870...FI/support. I haven't checked if the integrated GPU is disabled because I'm currently running Windows Repair, but I'll try that later. Here is a link to the RAM: https://a.co/d/2SndKDP. For the .dmp files, they are in the event viewer when I force shut down the PC; I need to check the error code after the repair completes.
