I recently upgraded from a budget Z370 model to a high-end board, added two 8GB RAM sticks so all slots are filled, and installed a fresh Windows version on a new M.2 NVMe drive. After these changes, I experience significant stuttering and freezing in COD:MW. My original 8600k was optimized for 5GHz at 1.29GHz, which worked well initially. Now the same settings cause major spikes and CPU usage reaching 100%. During a test of a low-end Z370, one core hit 95°C or higher instantly, while others stayed around 65°C. The hotspot was always on that core, which was unusually hot compared to before—possibly due to a delisted CPU or thermal paste issues. About 18 months ago, the CPU performance degraded significantly, and I’m considering an upgrade but prefer not to. Any advice would be appreciated!
