Hi guys, I just got a new PSU (Cooler Master White 750W) and tried installing it into my PC. As soon as I tried to boot, it shorted for a few seconds. I thought maybe the PSU was bad, so I replaced it with the old one and the same problems came back. I removed the GPU and RAM, but it still crashes—especially when the CPU is uninstalled, though it lasts longer without it. Whenever I open Windows or go through the BIOS, it becomes very slow, which made me suspect a CPU issue. I checked all the wires for fans and connections, but nothing seems wrong. Is there something missing or did I accidentally short out another part? Any advice would be great.

Check if you utilized solely the cables provided with the new power supply unit.

It came with an EU plug, so I used the older one—it matched the voltage and size, so I thought it would work the same

The CM White isn't a great power supply at all. I wouldn't choose it for a build. It might be because the CW damaged the motherboard, and the old PSU is also no longer functioning properly. Make sure to use only cables that came with the new PSU. Still the same?

I've placed an adapted plug to test whether that will function, but I suspect a short in the motherboard is more likely.
Can you find a way to confirm if it's the motherboard or something else? I don't want to replace it unnecessarily.

The only alternative is to take it to a repair shop and have them replace the components for diagnosis. Unless you possess those items yourself.
