PC Runs Slower
PC Runs Slower
Hey, I’m trying to figure out a problem with my gaming PC setup. I built it in August 2015 and have the following specs: CPU i5 4690k, GPU GTX 970, motherboard MSI z97 Gaming 5, RAM 2x4gb HyperX Fury, PSU Corsair 700W, HDD 1TB WD Black, cooling unit Corsair H60, and case NZXT H440. Starting around late December 2015, I’ve been experiencing frame drops in games. I mainly play CS:GO, which used to run smoothly at about 300fps, but now it’s dropping to 100-200fps, with only CSGO and Steam open. I also increased my CPU speed from the default 3.6gHz to 3.9gHz using the MSI Gaming App, thinking that 4gHz was the limit. Could this be because I overclocked my CPU? Normally, when the system is idle, I see temperatures between 30-35°C, but during gaming it reaches 35-40°C. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks, Pawel.
The frames dropping is probably not due to your CPU but rather your GPU. Don't assume it's because of overclocking your CPU—it could still happen. I'd recommend running a diagnostic on your GPU and updating the drivers. If you have further questions, feel free to ask.

The frames dropping is probably due to your GPU rather than your CPU. Don't assume it's because you overclocked your CPU, as that could cause issues now. It might be possible. I recommend running diagnostics on your GPU and updating the drivers. If you have further questions, I'm here to assist.
