today i started surgeon simulator 2 that i had never played before. when i opened it, it didn’t load properly. by switching tabs, my computer felt sluggish like a pancake, and i couldn’t even access task manager to check the issue. i believe the problem might be with my hard drive—some games i play, such as gta v, caused similar slowdowns but not complete freezes. my disk was nearly full at 100%, and sometimes it only managed about 1 mb/s before reaching full capacity. this happened both when loading postal 4. i had no other tasks except restarting the pc. my system specs are: windows 8.1 64 bits, amd phenom 9600 x4 black edition, 4gb ram, ddr2 gt 710, 2gb vram, gigabyte disk, samsung hd502hi scsi 465 gb.

Out of the 465gb available space, how much remains unused? Have you optimized your hard drive? Your hardware specifications are significantly below the necessary standards in several areas. The issue seems to stem from a lack of 4gb of RAM while the game demands 8gb, forcing your HDD to buffer both RAM and CPU activity.

There are 116 GB available. I performed a defrag on my HDD, which led me to buy a new PC since my previous one failed. The older model ran GTA V smoothly without lag and matched the original specs except for a larger 1TB drive.

Because I don’t have much money for a gaming PC, this looks reasonable to me. I’ll test the crystal disk and mark later and share my thoughts here.

I assure you it wasn’t meant as a jab, just a confirmation—if it functions it does, that’s all I care about. I’m not evaluating your system, only trying to resolve this for you.

Alright, no worries. I didn’t take it personally.

You're seeing performance issues similar to GTA V when running at high speeds. This could be linked to memory pressure or disk I/O. The high disk usage and low CPU might indicate excessive swapping or inefficient resource handling. Checking the pagefile usage and ensuring it's not swapped frequently could help. Also, monitor background processes for heavy disk consumption.
