So I am having a problem when playing "Sons Of The Forest". When the new update came out yesterday, March 10th? about 10 mins into the game, my whole computer totally locks up. This was never a problem before this update. So here is what I have done so far.
-Windows (Windows 10) Updates: Done.
-Nvidia Drivers: Done.
-Firmware: Up To date.
-Checked STEAM verify integrity of game files.
-CCleaner: Used clean junk files and Fix registry.
I went into: Computer Management / Windows Logs / System:
I found this Yellow sign: Source DistributedCOM Event ID 10016
I also found a Red sign: Source Service Control Manager Event ID 7034
I tired and did what this guy said on youtube:
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oNBd4jyz18
PC Spec:
CPU: i7-6700K at 4.5 Ghz
RAM: 32GB DD4 at 2.3 Ghz
MB: MSI Z170A Gaming M7
GPU: Nivida 3070TI 8GB
PSU: Seasonic: 1200W GOLD
Heatsink (new past 5 months) liquid cooling dual.
So I am in a bit of lost at this point.

"The most frequent ones are MSI.ActiveX_Service, with G-Hub and Razer Synapse Service being the others. "
Eliminate faulty or problematic software.
Disable or stop them to see if the issues persist or improve.
Manually download, reinstall, and adjust as needed.
Avoid third-party tools or installers.

Consider using the built-in Windows troubleshooters. They might locate and resolve issues. Additionally, run "sfc /scannow" and "dism". References: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-use-sfc-...es-2626161. It seems the problem could be minor file corruption from an update.

Sorry for the delayed response. I followed these steps and initially it seemed successful since there were no issues after two days. I tried running it in Windows 8 compatibility mode, which also worked. Now today it functioned again in the game, but only once—then it locked up during startup and displayed the warning once more. DistributedCOM //// Event ID 10016. I suspect a reinstall might be necessary?

Windows 8 compatibility mode is a consideration if you're using an older version of Sons of Forest. The update might have removed or altered features that make Windows 8 stable. Check the Event ID 10016 and 7034 logs for clues about what went wrong. Search these IDs in the past year to understand the issue better. Be cautious when trying fixes or modifying the registry—stick to screenshots of your Reliability History if you must. If possible, share any patterns you notice.

I was searching for long-shot ideas to adapt the game for Windows 8 mode. It seems to function better with fewer issues now, though it still occasionally freezes for periods of time. The timing appears to vary—sometimes every 10-15 minutes, other times it lasts longer. Recently, I’ve managed to play for 20 minutes or more without any problems during my breaks. Everything is up to date on Windows, the game, and all drivers (CPU, GPU, memory).

I’ll check the 7034 again and appreciate your help greatly. Thank you very much.

What are those red warning signs displayed in the Reliability History section for the past five rows? The picture is too tiny to decipher even when enlarged with the magnifying glass. Can you share that screenshot as a distinct entry? Check the Update History for any unsuccessful or troublesome updates right before the issues started. If none appear, search for updates that happened smoothly just prior to the problems.

It seems to work much better now. I removed all the unnecessary parts from the MSI software and Intel ME extra software. After doing that, the PC runs even better, and the frames are improved too. The game boots up smoother now. Thank you for taking the time to help me and guide me in the right direction. I learned a lot from this and again thank you.
