I just set up a new computer, but the issue was identical to what I faced with my previous one. I moved into a new apartment last year, and my mini-fridge is plugged into a different outlet than my PC. I started observing my computer powering on from sleep mode whenever the fridge compressor activated. I installed an Amazon Basics UPS to protect my PC and monitors, but the problem continued. Even after replacing the mini-fridge, it persisted. A year later, with a different PC, I realized sleep mode isn’t an option for me anymore. Still, once I power off my computer, the lights on my RAM, fans, and mouse activate immediately when the fridge starts. I’ve seen YouTube guides suggesting BIOS settings for deep sleep, but I’m puzzled why my UPS doesn’t shield my PC from power fluctuations caused by the fridge. Could the apartment wiring be faulty? Did Amazon sell me a subpar UPS? My old PC began showing instability in its final months, likely due to power supply issues. I suspect the fridge was generating localized surges in my bedroom circuitry, which ultimately ended my old machine. I’m hoping to prevent similar problems with my new PC and want advice on protecting it or testing my UPS.
