Hello, I’m okay with assembling a PC using components, but I have no prior experience fixing it. My system was running smoothly yesterday until the night before. When I tried to power it on tonight, it kept cycling on and off repeatedly. To prevent damage, I turned it off at the back but couldn’t locate the switch, which caused me anxiety. I managed to shut it down quickly with the power button, left it on for a short time, then restarted it. It booted up normally, fans operating correctly and the monitor visible through the window. When checking the screen, everything appeared unchanged except for the keyboard lights, which were off. This suggests a potential motherboard issue, though the monitor seems connected properly. I looked at my screen during startup but saw nothing unusual. I attempted to switch the monitor on and off, but it didn’t help. My keyboard lights weren’t working either. It seems dust might be the main concern, even though the monitor is plugged into the GPU directly—not the motherboard. All USB ports are connected straight to the board. I tried connecting my keyboard via the front port, but that also failed. Initially, the on/off cycle suggested overheating, but fans were running and the issue resolved afterward. My first step would likely be cleaning everything thoroughly. It’s a bit dusty, but not excessively so. I’m trying to avoid letting it build up further. I’m unsure if I have the right parts yet—my CPU was mine, but the motherboard, GPU, and power supply are all around ten years old. I don’t want to start over now, especially since the board feels old. I’m hoping someone can guide me through troubleshooting while I gather more info. Please share any details about the components or steps you’ve taken so far.
