My computer becomes extremely hot when I launch games, and I'm unsure if this is typical or if it's a sign of danger. The front fan feels unusually warm to the touch, which worries me. I thought about posting here for advice on whether this is normal or something to address.

This issue began after some PC problems that led me to replace my PSU. Later, I found my PSU fan was failing and swapped it with a new one. Then I upgraded my CPU (Ryzen 7 1700X) to a newer model (Ryzen 7 5800X3D) and moved from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Around that time, the fans started spinning loudly, and the PC got hot during games like FF14 or Opera Browser, especially when using Firefox or my drawing software.

I tried to ignore it and kept making future upgrades, adding a 3060 Ti to the system, which improved things somewhat. But the problem still occurs—just gets warmer when I open or close programs. I've noticed minor lag when streaming on Twitch or YouTube, and when using Elgato software to stream to Discord, the lag becomes more noticeable.

I'm worried about what's causing this and want to know if I should take action or if it's normal for these components. I'm very concerned and would appreciate any guidance. Thank you ahead of time.

Have you made any changes to your BIOS yet?
Verify the real-time temperature inside BIOS or use tools such as MSI Afterburner; check CPU-Z in Windows.

I did the BIOS update prior to installing the CPU, yes. It was a few months ago, probably in June or July.

What CPU cooler are you using? If you're really worried about it, consider replacing it with a new one—it might make a difference. You could also look for additional BIOS updates.

Could you share your complete PC specifications, including the brand and model of your power supply?

Also, I brought up the suggestion of a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 cooler. It costs around $35 and has good reviews. I currently have one in my i5 12600kf, which maintains temperatures near 60°C even during heavy usage like Cinebench or Intel burn test. You can find it on Amazon with various color options available.

Just note that the case should accommodate it properly. If you decide to buy one, a long-handled Phillips screwdriver would be helpful for installation.

I'm using the cooler that came with my CPU. I just reverted the BIOS settings, but it's still working fine. I'll test a different fan and check the results. Thanks.

The Thermalright top-tier assassin is impressive yet affordable, and based on what I've noticed, it's one of the better air coolers available for its price.
