PC Overclocking Help
Hello everyone, I'm reaching out for advice on overclocking my new PC. I've experimented with overclocking but have limited knowledge, just wanting to compare the performance of my old components versus the new ones. Current setup: MSI B550M Pro (WiFi), Ryzen 5 3600, 2070 Super XC Ultra 8GB. New parts: MSI Pro B650-p (WiFi), Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 2070 Super XC Ultra 8GB. Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Overclocking both 3600 and 7800x3d often doesn't help much. For the 7800x3d, lowering the voltage slightly works best; check out tutorial videos for guidance.
Missed updating the settings, currently achieving around 180FPS with 99% of frames at 165fps. Works on both 1920x1080 and 1680x1050 resolutions.
GPU performance remains at 180fps, but optimizing settings can improve frame rates. For undervolting guidance, here’s a helpful tutorial link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=example

For the GPU achieving 180 FPS, games like CS2 at 1080p or CP2077 RT in 4K are common choices. The 2070S tends to run hot, but you might be able to lower the voltage using tools like Afterburner.
For adjusting the voltage on an AM5 chip, enter the BIOS, locate the curve optimizer (likely under settings > AMD Overclocking > PBO for MSI boards), set it to negative mode, and gradually increase the value until you encounter random crashes at idle. An alternative is Ryzen Master, which can automatically fine-tune the curve optimizer—many guides exist for this approach (though success isn't guaranteed). Regarding the GPU, try a test run with MSI Afterburner: set a benchmark, record your score, then boost power limits to their maximum and re-test. Increase GPU frequency in 50MHz steps until it stalls or performance drops, then switch to smaller increments (25MHz) and settle at the highest stable setting. Repeat the process for memory, using 100MHz and 50MHz steps. Undervolting the GPU can also yield gains, though it requires more careful tuning.
