PC not installing windows 11 or linux
Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to set up Windows 11 on my new Ryzen 5 3600 after switching from the I7-7600K. It boots from USB fine, but when it tries to install, it shows a warning about failures and then restarts. I’ve got TPM and secure boot enabled, and everything seems to be in place for Windows 11. I found a workaround by installing Windows 10 first and using Microsoft’s update tool, which works though it’s a bit time-consuming.
I’m also thinking about switching to Linux, but I’m stuck because I already have all the ISO images and USB booting in BIOS. When I try Nvidia graphics mode, it loads ZORIN but then slows down a lot before crashing. It’s frustrating.
Also, I’ve noticed that some motherboards seem to have RAM slots that are damaged or worn out after just a month or two of use. I’m not sure why this happens and it’s getting really annoying. Any tips or advice?
Generally this indicates a hardware problem or conflict with the system. Usually it suggests the storage device you're attempting to install on may be faulty, such as an SSD or HDD that's outdated. Is the drive you're using for the OS an SSD or HDD, and how recent is its age? Does your system currently have a HDD?
The operating system is installed on a 980 NCMe drive. My setup includes two NVMe drives, one SSD, and one HDD.
All my drives indicate they are in good shape with low temperatures.
Disconnect every alternate external storage device, excluding the operating system drive, and attempt installation that way. How long has the HDD been running before power? Does its performance data indicate optimal conditions?
The 980 supports firmware updates that can be accessed in read-only mode. Try installing on an alternative drive if needed, or use a different RIG for updating the 980's firmware.
