PC needs proper power supply cycles for initialization
I built my own PC on a limited budget in January 2021. It used to be stored in a separate room, but now it's in my bedroom with my parents. The main issue is that I'm a light sleeper and want it to shut down completely when I sleep. However, the power button doesn't work properly—it makes a clicking sound every few seconds when I try to turn it on from shutdown. To fix this, I need to switch off the power supply until the motherboard turns off, then restart it and press the power button right away once the lights come back. If I wait too long, it won't work.
I searched online but couldn't find a match for this exact problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
The system includes: ASUS PRIME B450M-A II (2), latest BIOS R5 3600, used to run at 4.375GHz (reset CMOS during troubleshooting), stock configuration now), Coolermaster MWE white 750W PSU (previously an elite 500W unit), 16GB HyperX Fury DDR4 at 2666MHz, SSD for booting, HDD for games and storage, DVD RW for legacy OS on non-USB systems, Thermaltake H15 (tried a power button from another tower without success).
What I've tried: BIOS update, cleared CMOS, changed OS, swapped PSU, used alternate power switch.
