Hello everyone, I'm Ivan. It's been a month since I experienced some random and intense PC freezes. Now my PC won't start at all. I found a video titled "EZ Debug LED" that might help. Thanks for the suggestion! video_pc.mp4

Thank you for your reply. I've already followed all the instructions from the site. I'm considering purchasing a new CPU and will test it out. If nothing changes, I'll return it to Amazon.

You haven't provided your hardware details, so I can't confirm if the PC is new or if a BIOS update is needed. It's possible the motherboard is under a year old, but I can't verify that. Your issue seems to be with booting, not with CPU or memory. The LEDs, display signals, and memory appear normal. If you're certain the CPU is fine, a new one might not help. Also, check if your C drive and other storage devices are connected properly—try disconnecting one to rule that out.

The information is listed in my forum profile. However, the system is about four years old, with an NVMe that's roughly three months old. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 @ 4.2GHz; Motherboard: MSI X570 A-PRO; RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 @ 3200MHz; GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super; Storage: 3x SSD 480GB, 1x HDD 1TB 7200RPM; 5 fans, Arctic eSports 34 DUO; CPU cooler. The system has been unstable for about a month, freezing randomly and not responding. In the video, the last LED before shutdown shows the CPU, suggesting that issue. I considered replacing the motherboard before the CPU, but I managed to boot without any drives (SATA and NVMe), though I couldn't access the BIOS.

Do you have another power source available? Could a friend assist me? The problem began about a month ago and has gotten worse gradually, suggesting a power-related issue. A motherboard usually fails all at once, and memory would have shown warnings or errors if it were functional. After three attempts, the system would automatically restart to Windows Repair. These points are quite general, so I’m guessing the power supply is the likely cause. I’ve had motherboards fail over the past 30 years, but never experienced one dying slowly...? That doesn’t rule it out entirely, though I haven’t personally encountered that situation.

Thanks, I'll attempt it with an older power supply, just keeping the CPU and motherboard powered. I'll provide some additional details about freezing the PC, rebooting it, and a boot time of 4-5 minutes. Sometimes it's quick like NVMe drives, other times it's slow like an old HDD. Whenever it froze and I had to press the power button, the system would be sluggish to boot. It took a few extra seconds even with the BIOS screen (showing "F11 to boot menu" etc.). Occasionally it triggers the Windows repair tool without errors. I've verified the RAM using the Windows utility, checked the NVMe via BIOS, and found no issues. I even copied the NVMe onto a backup SSD and successfully booted from it. So... it seems the problem lies with the CPU or motherboard. I'll try a different PSU next hour. Thanks for your help, my brother—I'll let you know what happens next.

It's great to hear you have a PSU to test. I’m hoping it’s not the best choice, but it’s the most affordable option and could help you save money later.

Bad news for me – I linked the old PSU to the CPU, MoBo and GPU. All drives were disconnected. The LED behaved just like in the video. VGA worked, it booted and then shut down. When I connected it only to the CPU and MoBo, the LED stayed on VGA without turning off the PC. I’m a bit puzzled.

It's good to hear it's not shutting down completely again, that's a positive step. Do you have an HDMI port on the motherboard? Just curious, you might want to try booting without the GPU in the PCI slot and see what happens.
